We are delighted to announce Andrea Graham, PhD, has been appointed as Chief of the Division of Implementation Science in the Department of Medical Social Sciences (MSS) at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (FSM). Andrea’s career centers on designing, optimizing, and implementing digital mental and behavioral health interventions. She leverages human-centered design methods to develop digital tools that meet users’ needs and implementation plans that support the integration of digital interventions into practice. She also is interested in understanding issues such as how cost of treatments relates to adoption of interventions in practice, training individuals to deliver evidence-based interventions, and collaborating across sectors to accelerate the translation of digital interventions from research into practice.

Andrea holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis and has made significant contributions to implementation research. She currently also serves at Northwestern in the roles of Co-Director for the Center for Behavioral Intervention Technologies, core faculty in the Center for Human-Computer Interaction + Design, and is an active member in the Center for Dissemination and Implementation Science. In 2022, she received the Society of Behavioral Medicine’s Early Career Investigator Award. Notably, Andrea is an inaugural member of the American Psychological Association’s Mental Health Technology Advisory Committee and of the Society for Digital Mental Health’s Implementation Workgroup.

“I am proud of the growth and impact my team and I are having in improving access to scalable, evidence-based intervention for binge eating and weight-related behaviors, rigorously designed with our target populations to most effectively meet their needs,” says Andrea.

As she steps into her new role at MSS, Andrea exclaims, “it’s an incredibly exciting time to be an implementation scientist at Northwestern given the remarkable investment that FSM has made in this exponentially growing field. I am excited and honored to serve MSS, Feinberg, and Northwestern in continuing to advance our university’s leadership in this area, by continuing to grow on our strong partnership with the Center for Dissemination and Implementation Science, amplifying the amazing research coming out of our division, and supporting faculty, staff, and trainees in their scientific endeavors and professional development.” Welcome Andrea!
